On December 21st, 2015, I suffered a concussion from an accident. Everything changed very quickly. I couldn’t read, watch TV, drive, or use the computer. Anything that involved visual concentration was out. I was forced to give up my position as an editor after missing nearly a month of work. There was very little I could do and I felt trapped in my apartment every day.
About a month later, I was out taking a walk when I found Artists Corner & Gallery. Seeing all the art work inside made me feel right at home and yanked me out of my depression. It inspired me to try working on stained glass. I had taken stained glass as an elective during my last semester of college, and had wanted to get back into it since graduating in 2014. There are still a lot of things that I can’t do, but I can work on glass.
Lately, my fascination has been with making glass pieces out of scraps that would normally be discarded. They are small enough for someone to hold and carry around with them. These, I call my hand-helds. Since I like to have something to keep my hands occupied, I always carry one with me and like to hold them while taking walks.
