Lyn Slade
Artist’s Statement
I have been enchanted by needle felting from the moment I first picked up a needle. I am a needle felting artist, teacher, and the author of Creative Needle Felting: Wool Art with a Painterly Style, published by All American Crafts Publishing Co.
I have been teaching needle felting art and exhibiting in solo and group art exhibits for 11 years. My work has been published in numerous national periodicals. I’ve been teaching around the country, at shops, farms, homes, guilds, and museums. I have so enjoyed meeting new friends and seeing beautiful places while sharing my passion for needle felting. One of my greatest joys is the pride and pleasure on the face of a student who has completed their first needle felted work of art.
Some of my recent honors include the Best of Show in the Fiber Arts Contest NYSS&WF 2015 and the Award of Merit at the Attleboro Arts Museum member’s exhibit. In addition, I was the keynote speaker at Golden Threads 2015.
When I’m not focused on fiber, I am running a small bed & breakfast inn, creating cookie buffets for special events, and singing with a group of bedside singers.
I live in Bolton, Massachusetts with my hard-working husband and peg-legged cat.
