Victoria Haskell | Victoria Haskell Fine Art

Victoria Haskell is a native New Englander, born in Truro, Massachusetts, where her family still lives on what was once the family farm. As rural America is not always an easy place to earn a living, her parents moved the family to Long Island where they became teachers, visiting New England during the summers and traveling throughout the United States.

Her interest in art emerged at an early age. She spent much of her time drawing, painting, taking private lessons, and studying from her uncle’s extensive collection of art books. She went to college at Denison University, in Granville, Ohio, where she majored in art and received her BFA degree. After graduation she entered the field of publications and illustration, where she held a variety of positions, eventually leaving to devote herself to her art full time.

She received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2006 with a specialization in art therapy. She currently works at an agency several days a week, balancing her time between painting and doing psychotherapy.

Ms. Haskell has taken numerous art courses on the university level at such colleges as the Massachusetts College of Art; the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Lesley; and the Worcester Art Museum. She has studied portraiture with Constance Flavell Pratt and Charlotte Andry Gibb, and concluded an intensive study into the techniques of impressionist oil painting with Lois Griffel at the Cape Cod School of Art.

The artist has shown her work with numerous regional and group shows as well as local galleries: Depot Square Gallery in Lexington, Massachusetts; the Bow Gallery in Concord, New Hampshire (now closed); Hudson Art and Framing in Hudson, Massachusetts, and Graceworks Gallery in Bolton, Massachusetts (also closed).
