Mary Ashley | Mare’s Chairs
Mary Ashley is the Gallery Assistant at Artists Corner and Gallery, as well as being a member artist. Her painted chairs have bold colors, depth and a vibrant sense of style. Always abstract and often asymmetrical, her works are fun and add a touch of color to any décor. They are never representational, tending instead toward patterns, layers of paint and unique designs. Her pieces work well in many settings: a set of dining chairs in the kitchen, a bright bench for mudroom or hallway, a splash of color for the entryway, a child’s bedroom or playroom, a set of bar stools for a kitchen island.
Mary has donated chairs to “A Chair to Sit On”, a fundraiser for Household Goods Recycling of Massachusetts (HGRM), and her chairs were exhibited at Powers Gallery in Acton, Massachusetts. Mary is happy to work on commission. If you are looking for a unique piece that will enliven your room, consider commissioning your very own piece. Colors can be matched to wall colors or window treatments to give your room a complete color scheme. Or, in contrast, choose other hues to stand out and serve as an accent piece.
Mary has been painting chairs and treasure boxes for over 25 years. She has been an Acton resident for 20 years.
